From the March 9, 1972 edition of the Baltimore Sun we learn the body of a 24 year old cab driver was found the day before in the 4500 block of Hutton Avenue. The man had been shot twice. The police said they didn't know whether the murder took place in the park. The victim was identified as Milton J. Beatty of the 600 block of Wood Street. Police said he had been shot once in he chest and once the back of the head by what may have been a .38 caliber revolver.
There was no identification on the body leading the police to theorize that Mr. Beatty had been robbed. Mr. Beatty's Sun Cab was located about 2 miles away at North Avenue and Rosedale Street. Mr. Beatty and his wife, Edit said they last saw their son when he stopped home for dinner the night before at 4:30PM. A cab driver for the last eight months, he worked on the 11AM to 11PM shift. He was unmarried and lived with his parents. "He said he had to go back on the street after dinner because he didn't make enough money." the father recalled. Mr. Beatty was a graduate of Brooklyn Park High School and worked as a clerk with a credit company.
