This Year's Focus
History classes include thematic units that cover periods of World History, diving into many of the colorful people, places and cultures around the globe that impacted our world during those times. I love to combine writing and geography with hands-on projects that really engage my students and make historical timelines creative, interesting and memorable. We keep all of our projects in a portfolio to share at the end of the semester. This year, 2025-2026 we will take a journey around the world during exploring some of the worlds greatest mysteries such as Stonehenge, Nazca Lines,Easter Island, Crooked Forest and Bermuda Triangle to name a few.
Writing classes include Creative Writing and Poetry. This year my creative writing class fro 4-6th graders will consist of reading, analyzing and learning the techniques and steps of creating legends, tall tales, and myths. Poetry class for 2/3rd graders will focus on concepts such as rhyme, imagery and many forms of figurative language to enhance young immergent writer skills. We will also practice sharing orally and have an annual poetry reading for parents to enjoy.
