2025-2026 Theme: Artovation: "Fueling Creativity, Shaping Tomorrow"
At Austin ISD, we firmly believe that art is an essential mode of personal expression and a crucial component of any curriculum. Art plays a significant role in our lives by helping us process and make sense of the complexities of the world we live in. Whether it's through paintings, sculptures, music, or any other form, art serves as a powerful tool for creating a shared understanding, facilitating difficult conversations, and offering new perspectives on issues, ideas, and people.
Since the dawn of time, storytelling has been an integral part of human culture, and art is all about telling stories. That's why we strive to provide young artists with ample opportunities to explore various art forms, hone their skills, and share their unique stories with the Austin ISD community and the world beyond.
We at Mills firmly believe in the statement above provided by the Austin ISD Visual Arts Department.
At Mills we strive to create the most engaging, culturally responsive, challenging and safe environment possible. It's important that elementary visual arts classes focus not only on the final product but also on the process of creating art. Children will be encouraged to explore, experiment, make mistakes, and learn from them, fostering a love for artistic expression that can continue to develop throughout their lives.
Artsonia is the world's largest collection of student art, published by teachers and students from around the world. Parents and family can view the art online, leave comments and order keepsakes featuring the artwork. More info here: Artsonia
