Stories
The Selfish, Brazen Rabbit: This is an adaptation of a story "The Foolish, Timid Rabbit." I changed this story to be set in a high school and instead of the Rabbit being a timid animal, it is an egotistical boy who starts a rumor instead of a stampede. I wanted to modernize the story, but kept the theme that following a situation blindly is usually a bad thing.
Dearest Lanka: This is an adaptation from The Burning of Lanka from the Ramayana. It is told from the perspective of Hanuman and he is apologizing for burning down Lanka. In the original, Hanuman burns down the city and then goes to celebrate after checking on Sita, but I imagine that people in Lanka were upset that Hanuman set everything on fire, and so I figured he owed them an apology.
Eager Ekalayva: This story is an adaptation from part of the Mahabharata. In the original, Drona turns Ekalavya away, but Ekalavya still worships Drona. In the end, Drona asks for Ekalavya to cut off his own thumb, which he does. I wanted to change this story around so that Ekalavya had a happy ending and some justice.
Taking Candy From A Baby: This story is an adaptation from a Jakata tale where a wolf helps settle an argument between two otters over a fish, but also cons them out of a part of that fish. I change the characters to be people from the kids' cartoon Rugrats.
