Bio
Justin (Junseok) Ma earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in 2020, followed by the completion of his M.S. in the same field at POSTECH in 2022. Presently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. degree at POSTECH under the supervision of Prof. Wooksung Kim at the Wave Arrays&Display Engineering group (WADE group). Currently, Junseok is also involved in his Ph.D. study as a Visiting Ph.D. student (Recognised Student Scheme) within the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. He is studying under the supervision of Prof. Stephen M. Morris and Prof. Steve Elston at the Soft Matter Photonics Group (SMP Group).
His research encompasses the areas of microwave engineering and liquid crystal applied technology, with a focus on advanced LC-based smart devices. His research interests include the development of advanced smart windows, reconfigurable RF devices, stretchable and flexible electronics, optically steerable RF devices, and the integration of artificial intelligence technology in antenna and RF design. Currently, he is engaged in the study of liquid crystal droplet modeling and printing technology, with the aim of integrating this technology into the efficient modeling of antennas and the image-integrated application of smart windows.

- Led a project aimed at determining the feasibility of printing electrodes (using silver nanoparticle ink) onto Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) substrates for flexible reconfigurable devices.

Project Lead (Development of Drop-on-Demand Liquid Crystals Droplet Printing Technology for Various Applications) – 12/2023 to Current
The Soft Matter Photonics group at the University of Oxford is globally recognized for its expertise in liquid crystal technology. Our research endeavors focus on pushing the boundaries of smart window and reconfigurable antenna design through the utilization of drop-on-demand (DoD) technology. Our ultimate goal is to design smart devices that exhibit multifunctionality and superior performance, seamlessly integrating advanced features from fabrication through to implementation.
- Leads project to design smart windows using drop-on-demand printing.
