MILLER/DAY HALLOWEEN PARTY!
Our annual Halloween party for our sister schools - Miller and Day was a fun, family event that happened at the Stony Brook Middle School. There were games in the cafeteria, a dj and dance area in the gym, crafts in the hallway, and concessions
The Race for Education at Miller and Day Schools is a fun, community building event and our largest fundraiser. Families are asked to submit addresses of relatives and friends, who will receive a paper mailer asking for a donation, and therefore "sponsor" a child as they walk/jog around a designated course on Race Day. This culminating day will also include fun stations such as dance, yoga/relaxation, and a ninja obstacle course. There is also the option for our families to simply make a flat donation to the school as well. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to directly benefit your child’s educational experience at our school, specifically to support two arts/education programs at each grade level per year and to support our teacher/classroom mini-grant initiative.
Usborne Book Fair:
We experimented with a different type of book fair during conferences this year. Our Usborne book fair was open during conferences only. Miller School received approximately 15% back from all book sales, This was dependent on the amount of books that were sold.
Square One Art Fundraiser:
We have partnered with the Square One Art company to create a unique opportunity to celebrate your child's artistic accomplishments while raising funds for our school.
Your child has created a piece of artwork with Mrs. Perron in art class. You will receive a custom catalogue featuring their artwork on keepsakes like coffee mugs, pot holders, and magnets. These items make great holiday gifts for relatives, friends, and even for your own child!
Miller School receives 20-33% of all sales, (depending on our school's participation rate), and half of this will go to our school's art department.
All items that are purchased from Square One Art will arrive back to Miller School. These will be organized and given out to each classroom. They are usually packaged well and can withstand going home in a child's backpack without breaking. Picking up your ordered items in the school office is also an option.
All movie nights at Miller School are a fun gathering for parents and children alike. The movies are shown in the cafeteria starting at 6:30pm. Come early to find a spot to sit, get popcorn and water and get ready for a relaxing evening.
November 30 - We showed the movie Ferdinand on November 30 at 6:30 pm. There was also an optional craft table from 6-6:30 pm for children to make a Ferdinand themed craft.
Friday February 8, 2019, 6-7:30 pm @ Miller School Cafeteria

Tom and Dan Foote, brothers who teach at the Berklee College of Music, bring their enthusiasm and infectious love for drumming to each kindergarten classroom. Using the sounds of percussion instruments, they take children on an imaginary trip into the rainforest of Ghana. In a village style circle, each child sits on their own authentic African drum as he or she learns traditional African rhythms. A Kindy favorite!

The Boston Museum of Science comes to the school for two days to inspire each second grade class. In this workshop, a read-aloud storybook guides the way as students discover the engineering skills it takes to build a bridge. Through hands-on activities, they develop their own bridge models and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of different testable designs. As the program progresses, children work independently, in small groups, and then as a whole group to build a full-size bridge in the room!

PTO funded the addition of these beautiful swings for the playground. Children enjoy them every time they play outside.
Books supplied for Star Reader and Bingo for Books kids programs.
In the heat of the fall, the PTO funded several fans to help cool off the classrooms.
