Greetings Eagle Nation Scholars & Family!
I am Jessica Cooper, your school counselor, and I am so excited to be working with you all this school year.
I have been a professional school counselor for over four years, serving middle school and (now!) elementary school students here in the DeKalb County School District. I have a Bachelor of Arts' degree in Sociology with a concentration in Race & Urban Studies from Georgia State University --Go Panthers! I also have a Master's of Science degree in School Counseling from Mercer University--Go Bears! I have been in education for over eight years, with experience as an elementary, special education teacher.
A bit about my personal life - I am married to my wonderful husband and new mom to an amazing baby girl. We enjoy traveling and eating out as often as we can. I love being a creative so you will most likely catch me dabbling with fashion and interior design. I also love to read, read, read! It's nothing like allowing your imagination to roam freely in a book.
My counseling theoretical approach is an integration of person-centered and solution-focused counseling. I believe change begins to happen when we are ready to embrace it. Counseling is truly my passion and I am excited to positively impact the lives of the next generation. I aim to ensure that all students are afforded a learning environment that is equitable and inclusive to promote both academic and social-emotional success in their lives.
