AB&B CLARIFICATION NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS

October 17, 2025

Residents:

There seems to be misinformation spreading around the township rapidly regarding AB&B’s. As our

current resolution reads, AB&Bs are not listed as a Permitted Use or a Conditional Use therefore making

them not allowed. When something isn’t listed or spelled out it is not allowed until a Variance is

granted.

To catch everyone up, I had sent a letter to one being run on Larimore Rd that they were in violation of

the current resolution. They contacted me and I told them about the ZC meeting on the 15 th and a few

more details. As the meeting time approached, I had reached out to our attorney to see if I could allow

this one due to them living on site. I explained that I felt it was a home-based business vs a stand-alone

commercial use type. We concluded that it did in fact meet the requirements of a home-based business.

On October 15, 2025, the Zoning Commission held their regular quarterly meeting. At that meeting, the

couple had their chance to tell the ZC what they were doing and explained their rules with their AB&B. I

then announced for the record to that couple and to the ZC that the type of AB&B they were specifically

running was allowed to continue because it was considered a home-based business therefore, making it

a Permitted Use per our Zoning Resolution. The ZC will continue to research what is needed to consider

all other AB&B’s to MAYBE be added to our resolution as Conditional Use. If that happens, it will then go

to the Trustees for their review. There is currently legislation at the State level going on regarding this.

We have been waiting for that to come through so we know how to proceed. If it does, the ORC always

trumps any local resolutions. As it stands currently, I cannot approve of any properties with AB&B’s that

are not owner occupied. In the future that may surely change.

FACT – This couple was not charged ANY fees by the Township, and I did my due diligence for them as I

have always done for any other resident of Milford Township.

 This meeting will address two (2) Variance applications:

Variance application sites Article:  VIII Section: 8.7 ; in short he wants to turn part of his pole barn into a mother in law suite. The building was built by a previous owners 12 to 13 feet from property line. Zoning regulations states 20 feet.  Seeking relief from this requirement.

will hold an Emergency Meeting

July 6, 2025 at 7:00 pm at 

4651 Wall St. Centerburg, OH 43011 

 This meeting is to sign a check to pay a vender for a piece of equipment that was stolen from the Township. The vendor will not bill the Township therefore a check must be given at the time of pick up.

Also, Mid Ohio will be able to start the Dust Control job earlier than anticipated ; therefore the Trustees need to assure funds are in the appropriate account codes.
