When Maverick was diagnosed our community, family and friends quickly pulled together. We were unsure of the timeline, the medical bills and the journey that was unfolding but this ride put our minds at ease. We had an incredible group of people rallying behind Maverick, and raising money to help wherever it was needed (gas money, a medical stroller, ankle braces, and filling in the gaps where health insurance was falling short). After such an incredible turnout and the impact that was made in our lives, we knew that we could keep this going in Maverick's Honor.
We are onto our Sixth Annual Miles for Maverick Benefit Ride - and in total we have helped over 25 families. We donate Halloween Costumes and Christmas Gifts to the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh and we have also been able to sponsor 10 children to receive their Beads of Courage. As this ride continues to grow, so do our efforts to make a difference in the lives of children and families battling rare disease, and childhood cancer.
