As an organization, we are just a speck in the vast network of NGOs. We with our limited resources sought out propositions within our members as to how we can help them, what can be done to make their already despondent lives contented. A unanimous conclusion is made to distribute clothes and winter wear for these tribal peoples.
In the year 2020, a decision was made to arrange clothes and garments, and woolen-blankets for the Savar people. We approached the benevolent and noble-minded members of the society, who answered to our cause. We through our channel of acquaintances also reached out to the unacquainted, via social media. The response came as their used clothes and garments which were in mint condition. Here we do want to mention that we decided to collect used clothes because, as a start-up and unrecognizable establishment it was a pool of marquee water for us, without any financial aid the task would have been humongous. And it is still today a task where help from the government is an earnest need.
Still, we were able to collect some new woolen blankets and clothes, funded by the members and also by the kind hearted people who learned about us and our project from different mediums of communication. Throughout the year 2020, we collected an end number of garments, of various sizes and ages of people. Woolen blankets, pull-over, sweaters, shawls and various other winter wearable items were also collected.
During the month of December 2020, we traveled from the town of Chandannagar in Hooghly to Purulia district for the distribution of the garments, winter wear and blankets. We in our first approach were able to distribute within 65 families, where every member was given both clothes and winter wears and one blanket to each family.
In 2021 two trips to the Savar villages were made. Here we were able to reach 39 villages and 566 families in them were distributed with winter wearable clothes, garments, blankets. Along with the clothes we also distributed candies, biscuits, pencils, notebooks and shoes to children.
The cause which made every member of our small establishment dare to achieve the unending goal of serving the needy and deprived. The joy of providing resulted in an unfathomable satisfaction.
Sabar peoples are one of the poorest of tribe in India. They are a group of malnourished, barebacked, illiterate men and women with their half-naked children who need compassion from our so-called developed society.
The blind eye of society has pushed them far behind the outskirts of the civilized environment. They need us in terms of education, clothing, food and medicines. We can not deny our conscience and our responsibilities. Our projects "Ushnatar Parash" , Alor DIsheri" (in planning) and "Bhalo Theko" (in planning) are steps toward the desired future.
We have started our journey and reached a milestone with distribution of winter clothes, garments, blankets and other essentials to the people in need. We believe our work has only begun and we have miles to go. We depend on the generosity of all the civilized citizens of our society and their assistance will evolve us to match the completeness of a true human being.
As an organization there are a few aspirations of ours that we want to fulfil through our future projects, just the way they are mentioned below:
To reach the maximum population of the Savar people and provide them with clothing.
Every member should have a woollen blanket during winter, to sleep.
Every naked child will have clothes and shoes.
Every elderly will have the comfort of a full dress.
Last but not the least, new garments for their festivals.
The people of Savar community are roaming around the furthest territories in terms of education. Rather they are far from what basic education is, whether it is academic or social. There are schools in some villages, but the attendance of Savar children are the least in them. We believe education is the light which leads us to a brighter future and it is the light of knowledge that will only bring the lives these people of destitute to prosperity.
To encourage them to start schooling, we are visioning following plan:
At the very beginning 5 volunteers would be visiting 5 villages, and they would be encouraging, and raising the spirit of the Savar people to start getting educated.
Provided the 5 individuals are teachers, they will also teach the children and adults who are willing to study.
We believe in West Bengal Governments education protocol and we will follow them to the best possible ways.
Distribution of study materials for students would be done. This will include notebooks, books, pencils and slates.
The existing students, who have somehow diverted from studies, will be encouraged rejoining schooling and the teachers will provide complete guidance in their process of studying.
The students will be motivated to practise discipline and perseverance through rewarding process.
There will be arrangements for meals, but we are initially planning for light Tiffin.
Moving forward we are planning to arrange residential facilities for the students who are strong willed to continue studying.
In this project, we are focusing on the health and hygiene of the Savar people, both individually and as a community. Our sole objective is to provide them with basic health care facilities. This task of providing the proper healthcare and medical facility to the Savar people is one of the stepping stones that we want to climb.
We as a voluntary organization want to provide them with the tools to acquire these facilities and guide them to reach a healthier perspective of their life. The processes by which we will conduct are:
We will provide doctors and they would be traveling with us to various Savar settlements, doing medical camps.
We will be providing and carrying medicines with us for the basic treatment of the diagnosed ailments.
We will be carrying equipment like BP machines, glucometers, weight machines, ECG machines for diagnosis purposes.
For major illness where hospitalization or further treatment is required we will approach local health centres and if required district hospitals.
We would provide volunteers to assist them in the process of hospitalisation and carrying out other diagnostic procedures throughout the procedure of treatment of the patient.
We will provide the financial support for their treatment entirely.
