Since an early age, I have had a passion for people and learning about their lives. My journalism career started in my senior year of high school when my friends encouraged me to join the school newspaper. There was an immediate spark, and I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to this work. The profession both allows me the opportunity to learn about people and share their stories. Currently, I am a digital content producer at WQAD News 8 in the Quad Cities (Davenport, Iowa/Rock Island, Illinois).
I want to use my voice as a writer to advocate for the betterment of people and share their stories. I love the process of storytelling and am actively looking for a role in a local newsroom. Eventually, I would like to use the skills I've developed as a journalist and apply them in the nonprofit sphere, where I can report and write on the issues related to the organization I work for.
I strive to center people in my stories who might not always have the spotlight. Everyone deserves a voice and I work to be an outlet for them. It is my firm belief that the act of journalism is a catalyst for change.
