Individualised English & Math tutoring delivered by a qualified teacher for Prep to Year 9 students.
Hi, I'm Mikaela!
I’m a registered Queensland primary teacher with extensive experience supporting children with a wide range of abilities and learning needs. I’m particularly passionate about working with students who need some extra individual support to understand their learning and build confidence.
Much of my teaching experience has involved working with students who were below expected achievement levels or needed a more individualised approach to learning.
I have supported students who began one to two years behind in reading to reach age appropriate levels within a year, as well as students who had previously struggled with maths concepts to develop understanding through individual support and a different approach.

If your child is struggling at school, it doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t capable. Sometimes they have missed an important foundation, need more time to process information, or simply need something explained in a different way.
My approach is very individualised. I take the time to get to know your child, understand how they learn and work out where they may be getting stuck. If we need to go back to the basics, we do. We then build from there at a pace that allows them to genuinely understand what they are learning, rather than simply getting through the work.
I have extensive experience supporting children with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, processing and working memory difficulties, as well as students who are working below their expected level or have lost confidence in themselves as learners.
For children with additional learning needs, I’m happy to work with strategies and recommendations from their family, school and health or allied health professionals. Parents know their children incredibly well, so I also want to hear what you have noticed, what works at home and what hasn’t worked in the past.
Most importantly, I want your child to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and having a go. For a child who has spent a long time believing they are “bad at maths” or “can’t read”, rebuilding that confidence can be just as important as filling the academic gaps.
My favourite moments are when something that has felt difficult for a long time finally clicks and I hear, “Oh, I get it now!”
