Mihir Patil

Hey! I'm Mihir Patil, currently pursuing Professional MS in Embedded System Engineering at University of Colorado Boulder. I have always had a keen interest in smart devices & how traditional devices like an analog watch can be upgraded to a smart watch and made smarter by addition of computer intelligence, sensors and actuators.  This curiosity has fueled my interest & inspired me to lead a career in the world of IoT and Embedded Systems.

Experience

NASA Colorado Space Grant Consortium’s GLEE Project, Boulder, CO, United States | May 2023 – Present

Internship
- Spearheaded a sub-team of four to design new prototype of LunaSats, GLEE’s small, yet powerful satellites that are being developed to collect temperature, magnetic field, and inertial measurements on the lunar surface for science.
- Strengthened PCB performance via rigorous testing, resulting in substantial enhancements for subsequent iterations, while evaluating signal integrity and establishing PCB design practices.
- Demonstrated leadership by leading team discussions, managing tasks, and presenting findings in project meetings.

NASA Colorado Space Grant Consortium’s STEAM Project, Boulder, CO, United States | July 2023 – August 2023

Internship
- Supervised hardware tests for the STEAM module, a student built and operated instrument to search for X-ray signatures of coronal heating mechanisms onboard one of the satellites on NASA’s PUNCH mission spacecraft.
- Actively examined electrical continuity and soldered wire connections, ensuring robust integration between the Xiphos Q7S processor and the Mating Board System present in the module.

Bitleaf Technology LLP, Dombivali, India | February 2021 - March 2021

Internship
- During my valuable term as an intern at Bitleaf Technology LLP, I contributed to the development of an automotive electronics product based on Internet of Things.  Here I learned implementation of technologies such as MQTT protocol, CAN Bus protocol, On-board diagnostics interface, NB-IOT, interfacing of GPS, GSM modules, Nodejs, React, and MongoDB.
- As a part of the design and development team, I designed schematics and conceptualized and optimized design metrics of the products such as low power consumption & response time abiding to budget constraints.
