This is for you only if you are a passionate bettor / handicapper for football (soccer), and you are doing these activities on a regular basis.
Otherwise please do not waste your precious time, and do not read any further.
I will run a "plays / tips / picks / predictions" competition (whatever you like to call it, this depending mostly from where you live).
Of course, there are many of these you can find online, but this will be something special due it's setup, participation and development possibilities for the very near future.
The best thing to do right now is to try it out, to see how everything is working.
It does not cost you anything, and you can enter even a BS email address in the competition's daily form. In this case at least use every day this same fun email address until "we go serious" with the competition.
+++++++++++++++++++++
So without further ado, here are the details:
- For each and every day of the year I will select 5 football matches, for which you can make your plays.
These matches will be almost always the highest ranked ones in importance for that day in the World or from the competitions highest ranked in importance in the World (like England Premier League, Spain LaLiga, Germany Bundesliga, Italy Serie A, Champions League, National Teams competitions).
I will try to not choose any "friendly" matches. Yes, some days, or weeks of the year there are very few matches in meaningful competitions (I call these shitty football betting days), but even in these days you will get 5 selected matches.
- On any match you will have 4 possibilities to make a play - a side play, on one of the teams (Asian Handicap type wager) and a Goals Total play (Over or Under).
I will try to always chose the plays so that the 2 opponent play's odds are the most close one. Because of this there will be a lost of +0.25, -0.25 lines content Asian Handicaps or Totals. All plays are always on full time match results (with extra time added).
- The odds given will be at the time when I will post the daily contest details, and it will be valid for the whole day. They are given in European odds format, and are conform the average odds shown at the "ODDSPORTAL" site.
I know that some odds may change a lot, but that will not matter for the record calculation of each participant. It is up to you to consider or not how much the odds have been changed when you are making a play compared to what is in the daily contest details - in some handicapping methods has a high importance if there are dropping odds. Anyway, if you make a winning play, and the odds shown in the daily contest details are a lot better than what they are in the moment you enter your play in the daily form, that is your "luck".
- You can have any day just a total of 3 plays.
If you have 4 or more you are disqualified for that day (your day's record will be equal with zero).
- There will be always a time-limit until you can enter you plays in that day's contest form. This time-limit will be always at least 2 hours before the start of the first match from the 5 of that day. You can enter your plays even later (the form will not automatically shut at the time-limit), but all such late entries will be disqualified (your day's record will be equal with zero).
Usually the limit will be around 16:00 - 17:00 CET (Central European Time - we will always work in this time setting), but Saturdays and Sundays (and maybe some holidays) this can be as early as 12:00 CET.
- Each and every day, the competition details for that particular day (a web-page with an entry form - hosted on "Google Drive") will be posted between 8:00-14:00 CET (I will try to get it up until 11:00 CET).
While we are running just the trials, I will make available the link to the daily competition details to everyone. Later on this link will be given just for the regular competition participants (the same goes with the viewing of daily, weekly, monthly entries tables for all participants, with their records).
- Every day between 15:00 CET - 11:00 CET I will publish the matches "I am looking at for tomorrow" - these will be just the matches, without the lines and odds. So any serious participant can think in advance about their plays for the next day. (While we are running just the trials, I may not do this regularly.)
- Every day I will calculate the daily record of the past day for every participant. These records will be also calculated overall for a month (we can make it a calendar month, or from the 15th of a month to the 14th of the next month, whatever). Conform these records for every of these periods we will have top 5 ranked competition participants.
Summarizing
The uniqueness, difficulty, and appeal for really good and passionate bettors/handicappers (as in my opinion if you have a truly good handicapping method, you can apply the same principles on almost every match, no matter of the competition) will come from:
Just 5 matches to concentrate on every day, but not the matches you "like" for that day, but matches which are put in front of you to handicap
Having the possibility to choose just between 4 plays possible on every match, 2-2 (sides or totals) having close odds
Having the possibility to make just 3 plays daily, on maximum 3 matches from these 5 (or just on 2 matches, if on one match you play a "side" and a "total".
In short time for all participants to know the better (the best?) handicappers, and to be able to add some of these participants' plays to their real wagers.
My plan outline after the trials phase, when "we go serious" with the contest (details later):
The contest will be limited to a maximum number of participants (maybe 60, because more than that is difficult to administer).
There will be an entry fee of USD 25 valid for a month, payable trough PayPal.
2/3 of the entry fees' net total will be divided among the 5 first ranked participants per calendar month (or contest period of a month, if we do it starting from inside a month).
We are talking about "net total", because of PayPal transaction fees about 7% of the entry fees will be lost. This is resulting in about USD 23.25 net per participant remaining.
1/3 of the entry fees' net total will kept for organizing and running the contest. This is around USD 7.75 per participant per month (around USD 1.78 per week, or 25.41 cents per day).
If you think that I am after your money, and this is too much to keep for about 3 hours of work every day with everything related to running this whole stuff, sorry, but I need to tell you that you are free to fuck off right now.
Monetizing our competition:
Making the competition's daily plays spreadsheet-form available to see for so called "paying customers" (none of these will be participating in the competition), for a monthly membership fee (maybe USD 50).
In every month period of the competition the total net of the incoming paying customers' money would be divided 1/3 parts each: among the 5 first ranked participants for that month, among the total participants (except the first 5) for that month, and for organizing and running the contest.
This phase of monetization would come at least after 3-4 months of established running of the contest, and will need more planning, a nice website, etc.
