Women in Probability
Women in Probability (http://womeninprobability.org) is an organization for women active in probability research. Our primary purpose is to provide networking and mentoring opportunities for early career women, and our activities are funded by the NSF.
Women in Probability will host a brunch at the Midwest Probability Colloquium on Friday, October 10 at 11am at a local restaurant (to be determined later). The brunch is free for all early career women participants. Anyone interested in attending this event should email the event organizer Tai Melcher (melcher@virginia.edu).
Travel and Accommodations
If you drive to the conference and would like to park on the Northwestern University campus, please obtain daily parking permits at Math Department Main Office on the second floor of Lunt Hall (2033 Sheridan Road).
Visit this website for Evanston area hotels. Please also consider local Airbnb and other accommodation possibilities.
THE DEMAND FOR LOCAL ACCOMMODATION IS VERY HIGH IN GENERAL DURING THE TIME OF
THE CONFERENCE. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE THE PARTICIPANTS TO BOOK THEIR ROOMS AS
EARLY AS POSSIBLE.
Financial Support
We have received funding from the National Science Foundation and Northwestern University to provide financial assistance to graduate students, younger investigators (Ph.D after May 15, 2018), and researchers without alternative sources of financial support for attending the conference. Typically we can supplement travel and lodging expenses in the $450-$900 range per participant, depending on priority, needs, and the number of requests for financial assistance.
Participants who receive financial support from the conference should pay their expenses and submit the receipts for hotel and other expenses together with the Visitor's Expense Report
within 30 days after the close of the conference for reimbursement up to the amount of the promised financial support.
In order to receive financial support you must register online and indicate on the registration form that you would like to receive financial support. A registration must be completed before September 20, 2025 for a full consideration. Other factors being equal, the funds will be distributed according to the chronological order in which the requests are received. Please note that in accordance with NSF regulations only flights on US flag air carriers will be reimbursed.
A current graduate student needs to confirm you status by asking their academic adviser to send a brief letter of reference by email to the local organizer Elton Hsu (ehsu@math.northwestern.edu).
Please download MPC46 Visitor's Expense Report for reimbursement. You will find the complete information for submitting your receipts and the Visitor's Expense Report for reimbursement. Submit them by email to: Rachael Dunphy (rachael.dunphy@northwestern.edu) or by regular mail to: Reimbursement Processing, Department of Mathematics, Northwestern University, 2033 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60208, within 30 days after the close of the conference. Any questions about reimbursement should be directed to the department finance assistant Rachael Dunphy at the above email address or by calling (+1) 847 491 8017.
