Mid-Mo Riding Center is centrally located outside of Columbia, Mo. on its 150-acre property. It boasts a lit and mirrored 20-by-40 meter indoor arena, a large outdoor arena, 2 miles of groomed trails, and a cross-country course. The stalls are matted and 12-by-12 feet.
We offer lessons for all skill levels in dressage, show jumping and cross country. We also provide boarding and training services.
Crystal Kendrick officially established Mid-Mo Riding Center in 2017, but she has been a part of the barn’s life years before that. Kendrick said that as a young girl, “I would actually sneak out... and ride the hogs [at my grandparents’ hog farm] during feed time instead because I didn’t have a horse or pony.”
Kendrick has come a long way since then. At 16, she began riding at Tim and Cheryl Holekamp’s barn, which would eventually become the Mid-Mo Riding Center.

Before Kendrick bought the barn, the Holekamp’s had established themselves as prime breeders of Olympic three-day event horses at New Spring Farm, which would eventually become the Mid-Mo Riding Center. Among the most notable Holekamp sires is Windfall, whose successes in competition extend to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Since Kendrick’s acquisition of the barn, MMRC’s reputation as a top-tier starting point for eventers has lived on. MMRC is currently hosting Tetona, a filly by Windfall that is also a full sibling to Tsetserleg, Boyd Martin’s horse in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Even when looking within the confines of MMRC property, the barn is incredibly competitive. Kendrick trains several students in the Area IV Young Rider program, and the barn travels to compete in the show season.
MMRC also offers lessons to a wide audience. Kendrick says, “It’s all about learning and making yourself better, and it doesn’t matter if you want to compete or not.” It’s this mentality that welcomes a wide range of students and skill-levels to enjoy riding.

MMRC hosts frequent clinics for even more learning opportunities. Once per month, three-time Olympic alternate and Level III instructor John Staples visits the barn as a clinician. Leah Lang-Gluscic and Claudia Coley also offer clinics several times each year.
Regardless of a rider’s skill, age, and experience, Mid-Mo Riding Center exists to educate and enrich the lives of students in and out of the saddle.
