The Midland Outdoor Rink has served the community and surrounding area well for the last 25 years. However due to time, effects of the elements and wear and tear it is time to upgrade the Outdoor rink.
The images to the left are a visual mock up of what the planning committee hopes to see with the new Accessible Midland Outdoor Rink.
Clear boards allow sledge hockey players who are off the ice to follow the game and stay engaged.
The Midland Outdoor Rink will be an inclusive gathering place for all individuals year round.
The Midland Outdoor Rink plans include creating a safe inclusive space for all individuals.
The new outdoor rink will feature clear boards that allow viewing by sledge hockey players and spectators. The accessible pathways will transform the current space into an inclusive gathering area for all.
By opening up the viewing area spectators will also be able to view the outdoor rink from the current deck of the Midland Community Hall.
The new Midland Outdoor Rink will not only be accessible for all but also be a space that can be used year round. The outdoor rink can be used for hockey, skating, sledge hockey in the winter and basketball, pickleball, ball hockey, roller skating in the spring, summer & fall.
Thanks to the numerous volunteers in our community and surrounding area construction is underway of the Midland Accessible Outdoor Rink & Recreation Area. The old rink has been dismantled to make way for the new larger 80'x180' ice surface and 20'x63' skate shack, washrooms and storage garage.
Stay tuned to our Midland Community Hall facebook page and the website for more updates and progress of the project.
