When: August 10, 2024
Where: Sawmill Point This is where we have YM/YW Camp
What time: Saturday August 10th at 8:30 am. Service in the morning; lunch provided; play as long as you want into the afternoon.
Who: All are welcome to provide service while experiencing the beauty of Sawmill Point campground. Explore the location with your youth and/or primary aged children. Ideal for those who will be attending camp in the next several years, our future camp youth leaders, and their families.
What will we be doing: We will be doing a half day of service and half day of fun! Paddle through the serene waters of the Au Sable River or try your luck at catching a fish. Help beautify the trails within this pristine Pure Michigan forest, and familiarize yourself with the location of our yearly Aaronic Priesthood and Young Women summer camps.
Why: In exchange for our amazing Young Women and Young Men campsites this year we are giving service to the National Forest Service (NFS). The NFS’s highest request was for help clearing trails after the mid-July oak wilt. In June, the Young Women and Young Men helped clean, paint and tear down old fences. This August service project will fulfil the NFS's most desired service.
What to bring: Please bring appropriate clothing, bug protection, work gloves, and basic trimming tools for yourself and family. Pruners, saws, extendable tree trimming saws, etc. We will have canoes and kayaks there, but feel free to bring your own also. And filled volunteer form found below.
