Make your your Arduino software installation works.
Check that Arduino is setup as described in Intro.
IMPORTANT: Double check this step:
Tools > Processor: ATMega32U5 (5V, 16Mhz)
Important! Be sure to select the 5V Processor!
(We are using 5 volt Pro Micros, not the 3.3 volt version.)
Otherwise, when you upload a sketch, you will "brick" the Pro Micro.
Download this Arduino sketch to your computer.
MIDI_ProMicro_Hardware_Test.ino
(Click the 3 dots menu to the right of the file name, select download, remember where you save the file.
In the Arduino IDE, File ... Open the downloaded file.
Connect the USB cable from the kit to your notebook.
In the Arduino IDE, select the kit's communication port.
Tools > Port > (select the correct port)
If you're not sure which port is correct, unplug the USB cable and use Tools > Port again.
The port you want to use is the one that is missing when you unplug the USB cable.
Plug the USB cable in again and select the port.
