Class overview
6th Grade: The Old Testament
The 6th grade students will begin their religious education with the Old Testament. Students will study the stories of: Creation, Adam & Eve, Cain & Abel, Noah and the Great Flood, Abraham, Issac, the Exodus, the Prophets, and Kings of Israel. At the end of their Old Testament studies, students will be able to name the Books of the Old Testament and the Patriarchs. Their 6th grade education will give them a strong foundation for the 7th and 8th grade studies.
7th Grade: The New Testament
The 7th grade students will study the New Testament. Their main area of study will be the 4 Gospels. We will discuss: the authors, the audiences, and the similarities and differences. We will also study the major stories in the gospels: Jesus’ Birth, Jesus’ Ministry, Jesus’ Parables, The Beatitudes, the Passion and Death of Jesus, and finally His Resurrection.
The 7th grade will participate in Living Stations which will count towards their grade for that marking period.
8th Grade: Church History
Previously studying Old Testament and New Testament, Eighth Grade students continue their religious studies with Church History and how to become disciples of Jesus Christ. In the class, we will continue to study the Historical Books of the New Testament: Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles.
Eighth grade students will also focus on Confirmation. As they prepare to receive the Holy Spirit they will be encouraged to give service. (Minimum of 20 hours)
