Ripe red apples dangle thick amid the boughs of number 13’s trees, framing the pretty lemon-yellow door of the home of Bilbo and Frodo’s cousins the Sackville-Bagginses. Yet for all their home’s charm and bounty, the sour-faced Lobelia and Otho have eyes only for Bag End, and peer enviously out of their window at the Hill.
