Mida (from greek Μίδας and latin Midas)

Historically, the name Midas is associated with some kings of Phrygia from the prehistoric era (8th century BC) and in particular with the last of the dynasty, which, according to Herodotus, consecrated the royal throne to Delphi.

In a more imaginative sense, we find the name Midas connected to various Greek legends, almost all of which can be traced back to the Dionysian myth.  Among the most famous are certainly the one that tells of the power of King Midas, had by Dionysus, in turning into gold everything that touched his hand and the one in which Apollo had made him grow donkey ears.
