1. Each team will play a minimum of four games including the playoffs during this event.
2. Games will be two periods of fifteen minutes with stopped time and a shot clock.
3. Pre-game, on-ice warm ups will be two minutes continuous.
4. There will be no overtime at the end of regulation time during the preliminary rounds. Regulation games can end in a Tie.
5. The point system for teams ranking in the standings will be as follow: 2 points for a WIN, 1 point for a TIE, & 0 point for a LOSS.
6. One 30 SECOND timeout per team per game will be permitted.
7. No game protests will be accepted.
8. Minor penalties will be 2 minutes and Major penalties will be 4 minutes.
9. All players or bench staff receiving a Match or Misconduct penalty will be suspended for the remainder of the game and 1 additional game (next game) of the tournament. This will be reviewed by the tournament committee to decide if further action is needed.
10. Any player receiving 10 mins or more of penalties in 1 game will be suspended for the next game.
11. Each team should be ready to play 10 minutes PRIOR to their scheduled start times. Games can start up to 10 minutes early. This does not include final games.
12. Teams will be responsible financially for any damage to dressing rooms. Each team should leave the dressing room 30 minutes after each game.
13. If a difference of seven goals or more exists from the beginning of the second period, the remainder of the game will be played with running time, but will revert to stop time if the gap becomes less than.
14. The scoreboard will never reflect a goal differential of more than 7.
15. No matter what the score ends up being, a team cannot get credited more than a 7 goal difference.
16. Bench staff will remain on the bench at the end of each game. Players are encouraged to skate by the opposing bench to shake hands with that bench staff, and officials, after shaking hands with the opposing players. Players are encouraged to do this quickly to ensure the tournament schedule is maintained.
1. Each playoff game will consist of two 15 minute periods of stop-time. There will be an overtime period followed by shootouts until there is a winner and a loser.
2. The following overtime rules will apply:
a) “One-5-minute” sudden death period will be played with the usual number of players. Penalties
being served at the end of regular game play will continue to be served. A coin flip will be used by
the officials to determine ring possession at the beginning of the overtime period.
b) Shootout: Three penalty shots are given to each team. Should a tie persist after the first round of
shooters, teams alternate shooters until there is a winner. The ring will be placed inside the center
circle, in the half closest to the net where they are shooting. The goaltender must remain on the
goal line until the whistle is blown to signal the shooter to begin. If the player misses picking up the
ring, the shot is finished. There are no rebounds. Players will shoot one at a time with the team
that did not start the overtime with the ring starting. Also, a continuous movement must be used,
no stopping, no circling around the net is permitted and a player cannot go back from where they
came from. If the goaltender deliberately commits a foul which warrants a penalty, a goal is awarded.
c) There will be NO timeouts in OT.
When two or more teams have an equal number of points after completion of the round robin games, the host is responsible to determine the rankings. When two or more teams have an equal number of points after completion of the two ranking tournaments, the following will determine the rankings.
NOTES:
1. The maximum goals per game is seven (7) more than the goals against.
2. If a team(s) has forfeited a game, that team(s) will be ranked the lowest position(s) amongst the tied teams.
Clarification on the process: As soon as a step is completed and one or more teams are ranked as a result of fully completing that step; go back to the top of the ranking of tied teams process, only if there is still a tie between remaining teams. For example: If 3 teams are tied, a tie between all 3 teams could be broken in step 9. If the tie is only broken between two teams at the end of step 9, then go back to step 1.
The ranking of the tied teams will be determined in the following order:
Step 1. If one of the tied teams has beaten all other tied teams, in every game played between the tied teams, rank that team highest. Note: In a Split Round Robin format, all games count as Round Robin games. In the Split Round Robin format, team “x” is considered as an outside team and their results don’t count for ranking or tie breaking.
Step 2. If still tied and all tied teams have not played each other equally go directly to step 7.
Step 3. If still tied, rank the teams in order of wins between only the tied teams.
Step 4. If still tied, rank teams in order of the plus/minus (goals for minus goals against) only in games between the tied teams.
Step 5. If still tied, rank teams using the following formula only in games between the tied teams: Goals For + Goals Against Goals Against divided by Goals Against (With the highest value being the higher ranked team)
Step 6. If still tied, rank teams in order of the most goals for only in games between the tied teams.
Step 7. If still tied, rank the teams in order of wins between all teams.
Step 8. If still tied, rank teams in order of the plus/minus (goals for minus goals against) in games between all teams.
Step 9. If still tied, rank teams using the following formula in games between all teams: Goals For + Goals Against Goals Against divided by Goals Against (With the highest value being the higher ranked team).
Step 10. If still tied, rank teams in order of the most goals for in games between all teams.
Step 11. If still tied, rank teams using the least fully served penalty minutes in all games between all teams.
Step 12. If still tied, rank teams using least penalty minutes in games between the tied teams.
Step 13. If still tied, rank teams using least penalty minutes in games between all teams.
Step 14. At this point, if still tied, the following may be considered to break the tie:
a) Coin Toss
b) Draw from a hat.
