Hi, I am running Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise and using a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 (driver up to date). In all non-Bentley applications, my mouse wheel works perfectly well. In the Bentley applications I have (Power InRoads v8i SS10, Power Geopak v8i SS10, OpenRoads Designer CONNECT, OpenRail Designer CONNECT), my mouse wheel works fine for zooming in and out in the design view windows, but it will not scroll in pretty much every menu. It works in the Element Information window that I have docked, but in all other Attributes and Primary menus (Active Level Select, Active Line Style, Active Line Weight, References, Raster Manager, Level Manager, Level Display, etc.), it does nothing.

Re: Removing device from the bluetooth devices window (accessed via the bluetooth preferences icon). If the 'browse devices -> remember me box is not checked, the microsoft mouse will not show up in the device pane. Browse devices is under the system's bluetooth menu choice.

When I got home i checked the batteries and tried to reconnect following all the "normal" steps until I read the comment above about removing the existing device in the bluetooth preferences. Once I did that - the 5000 connected like a champ! Yeah! This is the one mouse that I have really appreciated, especially since both of the USB ports are side by side and don't allow for multiple USB connections from my "wide" cellular USB card.

I have the same problem as you, but my Win 7 is 32 bits instead of 64. My Windows also crashed with a blue screen and the mouse (Thinkpad Bluetooth Laser Mouse) refused to work afterward. What I did is that when I tried pairing, instead of clicking on to the device right away (you will end up waiting indefinitely if you do so, I'm afraid), I right clicked on the device and chose Properties- not Add The Device. A small window will open with heading like "Bluetooth services" beow it will be a line that says "Drivers for keyboard and mice, etc" just tick the box and press OK or apply, the device will pair right-away. In my case, it took quite a while to obtain the driver from Microsoft...so I skipped the waiting (there's an option to skip the wait) . Right after I skipped it, the driver is installed and the mouse functioned perfectly.

Microsoft is announcing the availability of an update to improve input filtering for certain Microsoft wireless mouse devices. The update enhances security by filtering out QWERTY key packets in keystroke communications issued from receiving USB wireless dongles to wireless mouse devices. This improvement is part of ongoing efforts to improve the effectiveness of security in Windows and Microsoft devices. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 3152550.

A vulnerability has been discovered that allows keyboard HID packets to be injected into Microsoft wireless mouse devices through USB dongles. USB dongles will accept keyboard HID packets transmitted to the RF addresses of wireless mouse devices.

Microsoft recommends installing a filter driver available as an optional update for customers who use wireless mouse devices affected by this vulnerability. For the list of affected devices, see the Affected Devices section. For more information about affected operating systems, see the Affected Software section.

What is the scope of the advisory?

The purpose of this advisory is to notify customers that an update is available to improve input filtering for affected Microsoft wireless mouse devices. The update enhances security by filtering out QWERTY key frames in communications issued from receiving USB wireless dongles to affected wireless mouse devices.

What causes the issue?

A vulnerability has been discovered that allows keyboard HID packets to be injected into Microsoft wireless mouse devices through USB dongles. USB dongles will accept keyboard HID packets transmitted to the RF addresses of affected wireless mouse devices.

What does the update do?

The update enhances security by filtering out QWERTY key packets in communications issued from receiving USB wireless dongles to affected Microsoft wireless mouse devices. The update prevents dongles that are included with a standalone mouse from receiving keyboard-type signals.

Recommendation: For most Windows users, we highly recommend using a driver update utility such as DriverDoc [Download DriverDoc - Product by Solvusoft] to help update Microsoft Mouse drivers. DriverDoc automatically downloads and updates your Wireless Optical Mouse 5000 driver, ensuring you are installing the correct version for your operating system.

Wireless Optical Mouse 5000 is prone to system errors related to corrupt or outdated device drivers. Device drivers can fail without any apparent reason. The good news is that the Mouse system driver can always be modified to solve the laptop dilemma.

It can seem impossible to find the right Wireless Optical Mouse 5000 driver directly on the Microsoft's or related manufacturer's website for your Mouse. While finding, downloading, and manually updating your Wireless Optical Mouse 5000 drivers takes a lot of time, the process can also be confusing. Installing the wrong driver, or simply an incompatible version of the right driver, can make your problems even worse.

Hello there,

that problem doesn't occure only with wireless mouses. I have a Microsoft cable mouse (USB) and since windows update has installed the MS driver for that mouse I also have the same problem. Every time when I boot windows I get too fast scrolling speed on linux. Simple unplugging and replugging restores the normal scrolling speed on linux.

Thanks for responding. I have done this quite a few times but the problem is

that I'm not sure what to pick from the drop down menu. I pick mouse, and

then the next drop down menu does not list the Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000.Which software should I pick since the Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 isn't

on the list?Thanks,

Nathan

I have just bought the Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 for use with my macbook

pro and have the same issues with the software or lack of itI used the wireless mouse 5000 and ended up at the intellimouse 6.2 sw - but

how do I assign the 4th button - there is no provision for this it seems - or

am I missing something?the 4th button is why I chose this mouse and it is disappointing to not be

able to use itany ideas?mark

I ran through the wizard and it wants to install 'btwhid.sys' on WIDCOMM

Installation Media, which I have no idea where to find this file. It's not

in my Win32 drivers folder or easily downloadable from any website that I've

searched.I also tried & downloaded the IP32Eng6.20.182.0.exe from Microsoft and get

this error:"C:\...IP32Eng6.20.182.0.exe is not a valid Win32 application." but my

laptop is XP SP2 32bit, not 64. I even tried the "workaround" in the Mouse

Propertied and changed the "Connected device" to "Wireless IntelliMouse

Explorer for Bluetooth" and still can't connect.Yes, my Bluetooth is enabled and my laptop can see the mouse and says its

connected, but it moving the mouse doesn't move the cursor. HELP!!!Thanks,

I know that in the help we say that we only officially support the Microsoft

bluetooth stack. We simply can't test all of the other stacks. Doesn't mean

that they won't work, just that we can't promise you that they will. You could try installing the 6.2 driver and choosing the wireless

InteliMouse Explorer for bluetooth, and then see if you can set the Advanced

Bluetooth Settings. Here's what the help says about them:Software-managed Bluetooth mode Use this mode when you share a mouse between

multiple computers.

The software is configured automatically each time you start the computer.

You can move your mouse and the Microsoft transceiver to another computer

without installing the software or reconfiguring the deviceHardware-managed Bluetooth mode Use this mode when you use your mouse with

one computer.

Your transceiver behaves like a standard Bluetooth radio when you start your

computer and results in no delay.Wish I could be more help.
