If you want reliable active noise cancellation, voice assistant integration, and a comfortable over-ear design specifically for long calls and travel, choose Microsoft Surface Headphones; if you need studio-grade audio fidelity, detailed planar sound, and a durable metal build for critical listening or music production, choose Linsoul 7Hz.
• Microsoft Surface Headphones: Best in class for active noise control and seamless voice commands, but lacks the raw detail resolution of high-end audiophile gear.
• Linsoul 7Hz (Salnotes Dioko): Delivers exceptional clarity with a planar magnetic driver and premium metal construction, yet offers no active features and is wired-only.
• Who picks Microsoft: Professionals who need all-day comfort, Bluetooth freedom, and hands-free call management on the go.
• Who picks Linsoul: Audiophiles, musicians, and home listeners who prioritize pure sound quality over wireless convenience and are okay with a wired connection.
The Microsoft Surface Headphones are built around the concept of a versatile daily driver for the modern professional. If your primary use case involves being on the phone for hours while navigating a busy office or traveling, this pair stands out because it prioritizes human interaction and comfort over sheer sonic purity. The design features an on-ear placement with soft ear cups that allow for extended wear without fatigue, making them ideal for a full day of work. The physical dials on the earcups provide a tactile way to adjust volume and, more importantly, tune the level of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) from zero to maximum without needing to touch a screen. This is a crucial feature for calls; you can dial down the silence instantly to hear a colleague speaking next to you, then crank it back up when you need to focus.
For anyone relying on cloud assistants, the integration with Cortana changes how you interact with your device. You can manage your schedule, send emails, or initiate calls using just your voice, which keeps your hands free during complex tasks. The battery life supports this workflow with up to 18 hours of playback, ensuring you won't run out of power during a long conference day. Furthermore, the USB charging cable included allows for fast recharging, providing almost an hour of listening time in just five minutes. The microphone performance is engineered to capture your voice with clarity, ensuring that even in noisy environments, the person on the other end hears you clearly. While the sound pressure level output reaches up to 115 dB, the tuning is balanced for general consumption rather than critical analysis.

However, these headphones might not be for everyone. If you are looking for a true "audiophile" experience where every nuance of a recording is laid bare, the dynamic drivers here will feel slightly less resolving than specialized gear. They are also on-ear, which some users find less isolating than over-ear designs, though the passive noise cancellation still blocks significant ambient noise. Additionally, while they support Bluetooth 5, the reliance on proprietary features means the full experience is best realized within the Microsoft ecosystem. If you hate carrying cables and want a set of headphones that acts as a command center for your digital life, this is a strong contender. But if you are strictly a music purist who hates any form of digital processing or wants to listen via a dedicated DAC, the wireless nature and general-purpose tuning might feel like a compromise.
The Linsoul 7Hz Salnotes Dioko represents a completely different philosophy entirely. This is not a headset designed for taking calls on a commute or managing a calendar; it is a precision instrument designed for the listener who cares about the technical execution of sound. At its heart lies a newly developed 14.6mm dual-cavity planar diaphragm driver. Unlike the dynamic drivers found in most consumer headphones, this planar technology moves the entire diaphragm uniformly, resulting in outstanding clarity and detail on every note. For a musician, a producer, or a serious listener, this translates to a soundstage that feels loose, natural, and transparent, allowing you to hear instruments and vocals with a separation that standard headphones often struggle to achieve.
Durability and build quality are central to the Dioko's identity. The shell is CNC-machined from aviation-grade aluminum, giving it a solid, heavy-feel that suggests longevity. The surface treatment includes sapphire coating and hard oxidation, making it resistant to scratches and fingerprints, almost like a piece of jewelry. Inside, the driver uses N55 magnets in a double-sided array to maximize magnetic flux, which ensures high sensitivity and a dynamic response. The package includes a premium mixed OCC copper cable with a 4-core Litz structure, featuring 216 individually coated strands. This specific cabling choice is meant to ensure high-quality sound transmission, adding dynamic depth to the bass, mid-range, and treble tones so the balance feels natural rather than artificially boosted.
The trade-off for this level of acoustic engineering is the lack of modern conveniences. These are wired in-ear monitors that require a 0.78mm 2-pin connector, meaning you cannot use them wirelessly without an external adapter. There is no active noise cancellation; isolation comes solely from the fit of the earpiece and the passive seal created by the housing. Consequently, they are not designed for gaming headsets that require built-in microphones or for sleep headphones for calls, as the form factor is intrusive and the lack of ANC makes them unsuitable for blocking out loud environments. They are also not USB-C charging Bluetooth earbuds; they are a passive, high-fidelity listening tool. If you are sitting at a desk with a high-quality source, or working in a quiet studio environment, the Dioko delivers a level of realism that wireless over-ears simply cannot match.

• Best value for pure audio fidelity → Linsoul 7Hz (High-end specs typically found only in much more expensive gear).
I would buy the Microsoft Surface Headphones if my primary goal is to stay connected and productive throughout a busy workday. The ability to physically dial the noise cancellation and use voice commands for calls makes it a practical tool for real-world scenarios where distractions are constant. However, I would choose the Linsoul 7Hz if my priority was purely the quality of the audio itself, such as when mixing tracks or enjoying a favorite album in a quiet room. For me, the decision comes down to function versus fidelity. The Linsoul is a masterpiece of sound, but it lacks the communication tools required for a true calling headset.

No, these are wired in-ear monitors that connect via a 0.78mm 2-pin jack; you would need a separate Bluetooth transmitter to use them wirelessly.
The Microsoft Surface Headphones offer up to 18 hours of wireless battery life, whereas the Linsoul 7Hz has no battery since they are fully passive wired devices.
