The language in Microsoft products should have the "feel" of a product originally written in German, using idiomatic syntax and terminology, while at the same time maintaining a high level of consistency. That guarantees the maximum user experience and usability for our customers. Sticking too closely to the original text will make it sound unnatural. Use correct technical terminology but express the sense you got from the source text as if you were writing in German. Then, read your translation out loud to check whether it sounds like something you would say in German.

Regardless of the audience, avoid gender stereotypes and aim to be as gender-neutral as possible. For example, instead of using phrases which specifically mention genders, use general language that includes all genders. A good solution is the use of the plural or abstraction (e.g., -Arbeitskraft, Schulungspersonal, Fachhilfe). Where gender specificity cannot be avoided without sounding awkward, choose inclusive language to cover all genders.

When you use gender-neutral pronouns (e.g. man, jemand, niemand, wer), be consistent and follow through. Passive voice is a typical of the German language. While the Microsoft style is active, passive voice may be used to achieve gender-neutral language.

German is a more formal language. Most notably, we have the formal (Sie) and the informal way (Du) of addressing people. It has become more common to address others with the informal Du, particularly in advertisements or gaming contexts. While Microsoft's voice is generally less formal, consistency is important. To assure that all translators use the same approach, we recommend using Sie, unless you are addressing children under 18.

Now everytime I want to write an e-mail or Word document in German, it says that's everything is wrong. So I mark everything and change the proofing language to German (yes I unchecked the automatic detection). I type a single character and it switches back to "English". I even tried setting it as default language. Actually when I choose "German (Germany)" and type anything it switches to "English (Germany)". Even if I delete something, it never turns back. Like it's truly temporary.

Please make sure that you have the languages installed not only in the Office, but also in Windows Settings (Win key + i) > Time & Language > Language.

After opening a new e-mail window, place the cursor in the text field and make sure to select the correct typing language by pressing Alt+Shift or using the language selection menu near the clock in the Windows taskbar. Or by pressing Review > Language > Set Proofing Language... (without selecting any text). Then start typing and it should work.

I need to make two presentations with the same slides, backgrounds, and everything except for the text: one in German and one in English. Therefore I have two separate presentations which I must always simultaneously update, otherwise one language version will be outdated and I often forget what I changed.

I have made a custom show with all of the slides copied into one PowerPoint presentation and that works fairly well, but I still must change two of the same slides each time that I make an edit to one language.

Therefore, I'm trying to write a macro that will recognize all textboxes within the presentation with German text in them and hide them during the show, and vice versa. Then, each of the macros would be linked to a hyperlinked box on the title slide called 'English' or 'German' which, when clicked, would hide the textboxes in the other languages while also leaving all pictures and formatting the same. Ideally, the macro would hide all boxes in one language and make all the boxes in the other language visible again within the same step, so that the presentation is always usable and I don't have a user who opens a PPT with 'no text boxes' because they would all be hidden...

I don't really know how to reference a language in VBA, I found this website by accident and thought someone might have a quick trick to help me out with this issue. The code I have which will blend out textboxes but not blend out specific language-boxes is as follows:

Windows-1250 is a code page used under Microsoft Windows to represent texts in Central European and Eastern European languages that use the Latin script. It is primarily used by Czech,[1] though Czech has now moved to UTF-8[2] and mostly abandoned this legacy encoding. It is also used for Polish, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovene, Serbo-Croatian (Latin script), Romanian (before a 1993 spelling reform), Rotokas and Albanian. It may also be used with the German language, though it's missing uppercase .[a] German-language texts encoded with Windows-1250 and Windows-1252 are identical.

VS Code detects the operating system's UI language and will prompt you to install the appropriate Language Pack, if available on the Marketplace. Below is an example recommending a Simplified Chinese Language Pack:

Note: This topic explains how to change the display language in the VS Code UI via Language Packs such as French or Chinese. If you want to add programming language support, for example for C++ or Java, refer to the Programming Languages section of the documentation.

Use the Install additional languages... option to install more Language Packs from the Marketplace, or select a different locale from the list. Changing the locale requires a restart of VS Code. You will be prompted to restart when you select a locale.

Note: You must have the appropriate Language Pack installed for the language you specify with the command-line switch. If the matching Language Pack is not installed, VS Code will display English.

No difference if pilot fly VFR or IFR, he can initiate comm with his mother language in his country anytime. In other countries where languages are very similar, this rule is also practiced without problems.

For example in Germany you can obtain three different radio certificates: BZF2 which is for VFR radio communication in controlled airspace in german language, BZF1 same in english and AZF: IFR and English only.

While different detection mechanisms such as regular expressions are language agnostic, the context words used to increase the PII detection confidence aren't. Consider updating the list of context words for each recognizer to leverage context words in additional languages.

Presidio's NLP engine can be adapted to support multiple languages and frameworks (such as spaCy, Stanza and transformers).Configuring the NLP engine for a new language or NLP framework is done by downloading or using a model trained on a different language, and providing a configuration.See the NLP model customization documentation for details on how to configure models for new languages.

Recognizers are language dependent either by their logic or by the context words used while scanning the surrounding of a detected entity. As these context words are used to increase score, they should be in the expected input language.

Using Microsoft Speech Translation technology powered by Azure Cognitive Services, meeting participants can now use live captions to translate voice to subtitles using a language of their choice in a Teams meeting. Live translation for captions is ideal in meetings with multi-lingual participants, as it supports one spoken language and multiple subtitle languages.

Each month, we provide custom webinars to a large organization with locations in several countries across the Americas. With this excellent new feature, I can deliver the webinars in English, share my screen, and attendees can change their own captions to Spanish, Japanese, or any of the languages available that they are most comfortable with! That way, we can inclusively participate in the monthly webinars, no matter what the spoken language is. I know, it is exciting!

Windows 10 will guide you through configuring your preferred language during the initial setup, but if you didn't select the correct option or use a device already configured with a different language, you don't have to struggle when your requirements are different, nor do you have to reinstall the operating system.

On Windows 10, when using a Microsoft account, some of your preferences (including language) will sync across the device. If you only plan to change the settings on the computer, you should turn off the option to sync your language settings to prevent changing the same settings on other devices.

You rarely have to change or add other languages on Windows 10. However, changing these settings may come in handy in organizations working with people who need to use different preferences. It's also a helpful feature to match the locale settings if you relocate to another region or when buying a new laptop that ships from a different country.

She chose the Berlin School of Economics and Law and applied to a Study and Internship program that allows students to spend a semester abroad studying, and then complete an internship abroad. She already knew some German, so she figured by the time she spent a semester living in Germany, her language skills would be strong enough for the workforce there too.

There is considerable excitement in the Artificial Intelligence community right now. And to add to the frenzy, Microsoft Germany CTO Andreas Braun has announced that the company will be introducing GPT-4 next week. It is the fourth generation of the revolutionary large language model (LLM) that enables machines to comprehend natural language. Reportedly, GPT-4 will offer new possibilities including multi-modality, video processing, etc.

It is to be noted that Microsoft Bing is currently powered by GPT-3 and GPT-3.5. With GPT-4, Bing will be more efficient with searching for information and faster results. GPT-4 will likely have multimodal capabilities, which means users will be able to engage through multiple modes such as text, images, videos, and sounds. The previous generation was only capable of producing texts. Besides, as a multimodal language users may be able to manage the input and output of data in different languages. e24fc04721
