Microsoft Search in Bing helps the users in your organization quickly find work-related information, including people, files, internal sites, and more. Searching for this information is as easy as searching the web. For more information, see Overview of Microsoft Search in Bing.

To help your users take advantage of the benefits of Microsoft Search in Bing, we're making an optional extension available for the Google Chrome web browser. If you decide to deploy this extension, it sets Bing as the default search engine for Google Chrome and provides easier access to Microsoft Search capabilities.

This optional extension is available only in specific locations for domain-joined devices running Windows. If Bing is already the default search engine, the extension doesn't get installed. Even after the extension is installed, an On/Off toggle easily allows your users to stop using Bing as the default search engine.

If the extension has been installed on devices in your organization, and you clear the check box and choose Save, the extension is removed and Bing is no longer the default search engine on those devices. These changes might take up to 24 hours to take effect on those devices.

If you're expecting the extension to be installed, but it isn't getting installed, check to make sure that you haven't done anything to prevent the background service from being installed with Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise. Also, using a policy setting to enforce a different default search engine or to control extensions on Google Chrome will prevent the extension from being installed. For example, if you're using the ExtensionInstallForceList policy.

The location of the device is checked once every month. At that time, if the device has moved to a location listed above, and you've selected the setting in the Microsoft 365 admin center, then the extension for Google Chrome will be installed and Bing will be made the default search engine.

If your users want to revert to their previous default search engine, they can select the magnifying glass icon next to the address bar in Google Chrome and move the Use Bing as your default search engine toggle to the Off position. For the change to take effect, they need to close Google Chrome and then open it again. Selecting Off doesn't remove the extension. This allows your users to still easily search work content through the extension flyout.

If your users want to go back to using Bing as their default search engine and access Microsoft Search capabilities, they can move the toggle in Google Chrome to the On position. For the change to take effect, they need to close Google Chrome and then open it again.

You don't need to remove the background service to revert back to the original search engine settings. Your users can use the On/Off toggle or you can clear the setting in the Microsoft 365 admin center that affects all users in your organization.

But if you want, you can remove the background service from the device. If the extension is installed on the device, then uninstalling the background service also removes the extension. Bing will no longer be set as the default search engine. Also, the background service won't be installed again in a future update of Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise.

These groundbreaking new search experiences are possible because Microsoft has committed to building Azure into an AI supercomputer for the world, and OpenAI has used this infrastructure to train the breakthrough models that are now being optimized for Bing.

Protect your listing from unauthorized changes by verifying it. You can verify your listings by receiving a PIN at your business address, phone or email. All businesses must provide a valid address, but some types of businesses can hide their address in search results.

If you do not want your searches to be recorded in your personal search history, the fastest and easiest way to search the web privately is to open a private browser window, for example an Edge InPrivate window or a Chrome incognito window. Using a private browser window ensures that other people with access to your device won't see your search history, but your school, workplace, or internet service provider might still be able to access this data. Also, you may want to consider using a secure network at home for any sensitive, personal online activity. Learn more about staying safe online.

Signed in to your work or school account: Your specific search history isn't shared with your company, school, or third parties. You can clear or download your search history at any time from your search history page. Your last 1,000 searches are available in history. Your search administrator may be able to see your searches as part of an aggregated list of top searches, but they are not attributed to you.

Signed in to your personal Microsoft account: You're also in control of the search history associated with your personal Microsoft account. Bing and Microsoft provide tools for you to manage and clear your search history, as well as ways to prevent new searches from being added to it.

Not signed in: When you're signed out, your search history is only available on that device. You can clear all searches from your history or remove specific searches from that particular device, as well as prevent new searches from being added to it.

Used a private window: Your searches are never saved to your search history. If you signed in to an account (work, school, or personal Microsoft account) from a private browser window, any searches you made will be associated with that account.

I have changed it Google so that hopefully it will adhere to his Google account settings for safe search. Although I am really disappointed that his Gmail app is not adhering to these safe search settings.

When opening the search result link in the new Tab and return to the Bing Tab after some seconds/minutes, suddenly the page automatically jumping to the top of the page, and this happens in all of Bing website pages(Tested with Edge Chromium, Chrome, Firefox ESR), and I have this problem for several months.

I have reverted to Google search after some frustration because of this issue, and also based on it giving more relevant results for my search. But I will implement this solution so that it helps if I consider going back to Bing.
