COMPONENTS
Light-emitting diode
A light-emitting diode is a semiconductor light source that emits light when current flows through it. Electrons in the semiconductor recombine with electron holes, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence
The two leads on a diode are known as the Anode and Cathode. The Anode of the LED is the positive lead, and the cathode is the negative lead. On standard through-hole LEDs, the body will have a flattened edge on one side, the lead on this side is the cathode and is usually also the shorter lead
Breadboard
A breadboard is a rectangular plastic board with a bunch of tiny holes in it. These holes let you easily insert electronic components to prototype (meaning to build and test an early version of) an electronic circuit, like battery, switch, resistor, and an LED (light-emitting diode).
Resistor
A resistor is a passive two-terminal electrical component that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element. In electronic circuits, resistors are used to reduce current flow, adjust signal levels, to divide voltages, bias active elements, and terminate transmission lines, among other.
