MacroABM 2nd Workshop

at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU)

 

The workshop will bring together researchers from diverse modeling fields, including ABM, HANK, and microsimulations.

We aim to build bridges among those communities and explore challenges and innovative solutions in using microdata for macroeconomic modeling.

To attend the workshop, email us by 5 April at the latest. Please note that the number of participants is limited. 

 

The workshop aims to bring together researchers from diverse modelling perspectives, including ABM, HANK, and microsimulations, to encourage collaboration across currently disconnected fields and explore challenges and innovative solutions in utilizing microdata for macroeconomic modelling.

Key notes - Pre-Workshop

Domenico Delli gatti

Economics Professor at Catholic University, Milan, where he received his PhD in 1987. His research interests focus on the role of financial factors (firms’ and banks’ financial fragility) in business fluctuations, a field he started exploring in collaboration with Hyman Minsky, revisited in a new light due to the research work carried out with Joe Stiglitz and Bruce Greenwald.

Key notes - Workshop

Cars Hommes

Senior Research Advisor of the Canadian Economic Analysis Department at the Bank of Canada. His research field is behavioral macro-finance, with primary research interests in bounded rationality, expectations and learning, evolutionary finance, experimental economics and complex macro-financial systems. Cars Hommes received his PhD in economics from University of Groningen and teaches behavioral macro-finance at the University of Amsterdam.

Martin Spielauer

Social scientist with 25 years of experience in microsimulation modeling and projections. He has developed or contributed to models in diverse areas, including demography, education, savings and wealth, pension systems, long-term care, poverty, and health. Since 2016, Martin has been a senior economist at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO). Concurrent and recent activities include advisory, technical assistance, and consulting roles at the Slovenian Institute of Economic Research, FTI Consulting, The World Bank, and Statistics Austria.
