Entries will close at 5pm on the Wednesday prior to the event.
The draw will be published at 8pm on Wednesday night. The heats are seeded from the previous event.
Reminders to register via an email link will be posted on WhatsApp and Instagram.
Events are limited to 24 surfers in each division with preference going to seeded surfers and members.
Surfers can only compete in one division.
No entry on the day.
At 8.00am conditions will be assessed and a call will be made if the event is to start at 12pm .
The competition will be postponed to the 4th Sunday of the month if the surf is too big, weather conditions are poor, there are bluebottles or if another event has clashed.
Competitions may be held along Curl Curl beach anywhere that the Contest Directors consider contestable and suitable to the skill level of each Division.
Competition formats will typically be top 50% of surfers' progress.

Make your way to the chosen location, find the Contest Director and say "Hi"
Collect your coloured rashie 10 minutes prior to your heat
Return coloured rashie straight after your heat
Heats will be 15 minutes
Finals will 20 minutes
If you do not show for your first heat, you are considered not surfing in the competition that day and will receive no points.
If you do not show for any subsequent heat, you will be placed last in that heat and points awarded accordingly.
2.1 PLEASE DO NOT FREE SURF IN THE COMPETITION AREA. It is not fair on other surfers and you may be disqualified from the Competition or have points deducted from your next heat score (half your highest-scoring wave).
3.1 GREEN FLAG - Heat is on!! Surfs up! Start! Go for it! Rip it up!!
3.2 YELLOW FLAG - 5 minutes remaining in the current heat. Next heat may paddle out.
3.3 RED FLAG - The Heat is over. Please get out of the water as quickly as possible.
3.4 Please do not stand up to surf in or remove your rashie. Belly board to the beach as quickly as possible and return your rashie to the Competition Tent.
4.1 Don’t drop in. Make sure you always look before you paddle or take off.
4.2 An interference will be called by the head judge if you drop in on another surfer.
4.3 The interferene penalty is your overall score is based on 1 wave instead of 2.
4.4 The surfer on the inside position of the wave has unconditional right of way!
4.5 If 2 surfers take off on the same wave at the same time on a peak, the surfer who makes the first directional change in their chosen direction has the right of way.
4.6 If any other surfer hinders the ride in any way interference will be called.
4.7 The types of interference that will be called are:
Dropping-in
Snaking (don't be a hog, take turns)
Paddling Interferences
4.8 If you are snaking you will receive a warning before an interference is called.
5.1 Judges use the following criteria:
2 - 3 Ok - Goes Across
4 - 5 Fair - Small manoeuvres or a critical manoeuvre attempted
6 - 7 Good - Multiple and/or a critical manoeuvre
8 - 10 Epic! - Multiple and/or one AMAZING critical manoeuvre
This criteria is adjusted for different divisions and wave quality.
5.2 The scores of a wave is adjusted by 2 points for parent push assist in any heat or divisions where some surfers are paddling themselves
5.3 1 point is taken off for surfers who do not stand up themselves.
5.4 The Contest Director's and Judges’ decisions are final.
6.1 If a surfer interferes with another surfer's ride the wave that the interference was called on will be counted as a zero.
6.2 Either the Head Judge or Contest Director will make the final call on interferences. Their decision will be final.
6.3 Avoiding Interference with other surfers by:
Not paddling for a wave that someone else is already riding.
Not taking off on a wave that someone else is riding.
Not paddling in the way of a surfer paddling for a wave.
Not paddling out through sections of waves that are being ridden – either go through the whitewater or paddle very wide of the break when another surfer is riding a wave.
6.4 If someone is committed on a wave and you are paddling out and can’t make it around them, paddle for the inside and duck dive the white water.
6.5 If you need further detail, talk to your Head Judge or Contest Director.
7.1 Talk with the other surfers in the heat and let others know if you are going to paddle for a wave or not.
7.2 Aggressive behaviour and language is not on & will not be tolerated and you will be disqualified from the Competition.
RELAX, HANG LOOSE, HAVE FUN, RIP IT UP!!
8.1 Parents of members maybe asked to help with the judging of the competitions.
8.2 Parents and Competitors are to stay out of and away from the judging area if their children are in that particular heat. This is so that no pressure is deemed to have been brought on the judges.
8.3 Parents are not to judge any heat in which their child is competing.

9.1 Each series has 4 events and points are tallied using Live Heats. The final events of each series will typically have a higher value. If we have to postpone an event we will try to run on the following Sunday. If the competition for the month is cancelled, the series will be based on the best 2 of 3 events.
9.2 Final Rankings are calculated by taking each surfer’s best 3 results from 4 events.
