The difference between ORDINARY and EXTRAORDINARY is just a little EXTRA!
Founded in 2016, Mi Cookie Project provides hands-on work for individuals with intellectual disabilities & Autism. Our bakery in Melvindale provides a wonderful volunteer program. We give our bakers a sense of purpose, responsibility, and a sense of pride in the midst of the business community. This volunteer program that we offer teaches those with disabilities new skills that they will carry with them for life; and makes them friends they will never forget.
We are not a segregated group of individuals with disabilities. People with and without disabilities are able to volunteer!
Life is not all work. We provide opportunities for all involved with Mi Cookie Project to learn social skills, recreational skills, and enjoy tons of activities. We pride ourselves on teaching healthy lifestyles, eating well, and supporting lifelong fitness. Activities include: camping, hiking, weight training, kayaking, fishing, canoeing, cycling, alpine ski, cross country ski, snowboard, swimming, sporting events, travel, and more! Family members and others in the community are invited to join us in these activities to make new friends through recreation and shared interests.
