Having a background in design and education has allowed me to merge creativity, functionality, and practicality into my craft. My surroundings inspire me the most, whether from my neighborhood, cities, colleagues, or artists (now and then). I believe people of all ages search for those connections and visual representations; as someone who identifies as a person of color, to be represented creatively is more than to see ourselves in a world where we haven't been seen before.
Seeing ourselves, families, and friends in art become this keepsake that transforms into extraordinary moments and feelings, and that's what I strive for in my work and what I teach. My job as an artist is to create engagement and conversation, and my job as an educator is to make sure my students have the tools, knowledge, and foundation to analyze and influence the world we live in.

During Virtual Learning in 2020, I created a YouTube channel! It's a space where I narrate books about artists. It has been a beneficial tool within my classroom and others.
I've also joined the Teachers Pay Teachers community with my design background. TpT is a platform where a collective of educators create templates and resources for the classroom.
