Michelle Hoeckel-Neal is a writer and teacher based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
After earning her Master's in English - Creative Writing from the University of Maine, Michelle worked as an academic advisor at a local university. Now, she is pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.
She is a writer of fiction, poetry, and hybrid genres. Her words have appeared in literary magazines including New Session, Every Day Fiction, JAKE Magazine, and more.
Michelle is currently querying for publication a flash and short fiction collection titled Object (of) Permanence. She has also prepared a poetry chapbook, Near You: Co-Respondence Poems, which features poems written in co-respondence with a family archive of letters. She is interested in creative writing pedagogy; particularly decolonial, feminist, queer, and anti-racist approaches.
Michelle loves to cook, explore her city with her wife and friends, and lounge at home with her cat.
