Who is Michele Braniff?
Michele supports policies which prioritize people and planet to create conditions for resilient families, neighbourhoods and community. She believes in collaboration and innovation to develop creative solutions to complex social, political and economic challenges.
Michele Braniff is a familiar face and personality in the City of Cambridge. Michele has participated locally in citizen advisory roles on issues of diversity and wellness. Michele was recognized in 2013 as a Woman of Distinction for Cambridge YWCA for her contributions to local arts and culture and was Artist in Residence for the City of Waterloo in 2016 and for the Cambridge Centre for the Arts in 2014. Michele has been a Green Candidate for the riding of Cambridge both provincially and federally.
Michele Braniff has had a varied career: lawyer, mediator, non-profit mental health service provider, entrepreneur and teacher.
Michele teaches social justice courses to social service worker students in a college program and has been an adjunct professor teaching business law, governance, conflict resolution and negotiation at the University of Waterloo. Michele has been a sole proprietor of her own businesses in law, mediation, team building, art and graphic recording. She has facilitated group discussions on topics such as Indigenous visioning for urban health care, mental health and poverty symposiums. Her clients have included city and regional government, Wellbeing Waterloo Region, Leadership Waterloo Region, United Way and local university faculty.
She and her husband John have planted a pollinator garden at their home near downtown Preston and enjoy cycling, walking, cross-country skiing and canoeing. Michele is a proud grandmother and the mother of three adult children.
