Heating Up

Current circle: 3

Johnny peered up at the beast that was the three-headed dog Cerberus who watches over the slushy third circle for those who were gluttonous on their time on Earth. Michael noticed an old boss of his that was caught embezzling, stuck in the ice for what he knew was eternity. Michael felt a little uneasy as he realized just how serious the circles of hell were starting to become, so he turned around only to see Johnny pulling three fresh cuts of meat out from under his seat that looked like they could have been from his old local deli back home in New York City.

"Watch this, boy," Johnny called back as he heaved the three chunks of meat out the window.

Cerberus went racing across the ice like a golden retriever for its ball and the three heads began fussing over the different pieces of meat. So naturally Johnny stepped on it because he had a schedule to keep.

The fourth circle was dreary but at least not made of ice so the car was churning down the road. Michael looked out to see a huge hooded man towering over the people who inhabited this circle and each occupant had a large money-bag-shaped weight attached to their backs. He knew right away this circle was greed and even noted the humongous bag out his left window that spelled "Rockefeller," a name he hadn't read since his days in history class. Michael began to drift away as he sat back and began to think back to his carefree days in high school where he wasn't cruising through the underworld. This nostalgic daydream made Michael begin to worry as he thought about Dana again as she consumed most of his time in that class, so he shot up and looked at Johnny.

"Step on it," he said with a gulp.

Johnny pushed the pedal all the way down causing the taxi to rev and pick up speed as the duo went screeching into the next circle. This circle was more treacherous terrain-wise as the whole circle consisted of this slime that caused the wheels to slow up and Michael noticed that there were men shouting and fist-fighting all across the horizon.

"What's up with this circle Johhny?"

"It's known as Wrath and it turns into a nonstop brawl down here between everybody who was super angry back when they were alive," Johnny explained.

Michael looked at the window again to see what looked like Theodore Roosevelt in a fist fight with Vlad the Impaler and they looked seriously pissed off. Michael began thinking about all the people he had been seeing on the roadside and wondered how strange of a place Hell was as it seemed a lot more structured and almost exhibit-like when he thought about it. The next circle was coming up and Johnny yelled back that the sixth circle was known as heresy and was only filled with "a bunch of flaming coffins," which were for this circle's unlucky inhabitants...
