Engineering has always been something I've wanted to work towards. There are many thoughts in my mind that I am willing to try and work forward to. I also see myself studying architecture. Architects design houses and buildings of the future. I would love to have my own design on a building for everyone to see. I want to create unique designs that define buildings of the future. This summer I did an architecture Camp at The NJ institute of Technology and loved it and decided this is what i would like to do in the future.
To achieve my career paths I have decided to take the engineering program at the Dr James A Forest Career and Technology Center. Added on to these classes I have decided to take Geometry and both Algebra 1 and 2. The summer program at NJIT was a very big step up for me since it was an Introduction to Architecture and they explained the basics of Architecture to us all. The tech center helped me during the NJIT program since the AutoCAD certification that was used during the NJIT program was very similar to AutoCAD. Last year I competed a fun project where I had to make a coin sorter from scratch with only cardboard, glue, and plastic bottles. Projects like these are helping me solve real world problems in the future.
I have participated in soccer for a travel team and for Leonardtown high school. This has taught me to be confident in myself. It also taught me how teamwork is essential in many different aspects of life. It improved my focus and the way I think about failed or missed opportunities. My sport taught me that it's fine to make mistakes, and that if you give up then all the work you put in would've all been put to waste. Soccer has taught me that nothing comes without hard work. I have also worked as a lifeguard for my neighborhood pool. Lifeguarding taught me to be more vocal and assertive in life. Also how important is it so follow and enforce the rules. All rules serve a purpose to keep us safe.
When I graduate high school I plan to go to a college. I plan to attend a 4 year college to learn how to live independently as well as earn a degree in engineering or architecture. I'm excited to see how my college degree will actually work in the real world. I am hoping I actually like my line of work and if I do I will continue to learn more about it after college.
After I earn my degree I am hoping to make a difference. I will affect the community by designing and making buildings. The buildings made would create more job opportunities for people as well as create more homes for people. This will help people by getting more people off the streets and helping them support their families. I hope to make a difference in an area that might be severely lacking important education or medical buildings to make a difference. I wish to help many families with what I design and create a place where everybody could have a roof over their heads and help them live healthy lives.
