Driven by a profound interest in unconscious processing within cognitive science, my research focuses on employing continuous flash suppression to explore the face inversion effect—a phenomenon wherein recognizing inverted faces becomes markedly more challenging, highlighting specialized mechanisms in facial recognition. The insights derived from studying this effect can be extrapolated to other domains, paving the way for a deeper understanding of how we unconsciously perceive and process a variety of stimuli.
An academic journey at Toyohashi University of Technology, enriched by international experiences at KU Leuven and the University of Eastern Finland, has fostered a commitment to unraveling the complexities of the human mind. The goal is to advance knowledge in cognitive science, ultimately influencing fields such as psychology, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence.
