I am a PhD student in the Machine Learning Group at the Department of Physics and Technology at the University of Tromsø (UiT) – The Arctic University of Norway and am working on applications and development of deep learning algorithms. Currently, one of my main research focuses is the development of unsupervised deep learning methods for representation learning and clustering by utilizing ideas from kernel machines and information theoretic learning.
Another main research interest is to improve Convolutional Neural Networks for small object detection/segmentation in e.g. remote sensing and health images. Other topics of interest in this work include transfer learning, the handling of different image resolutions and multi-modality. This is a joint effort with researchers at the Norwegian Computing Center in Oslo, Norway.
From September 2017 to June 2018 I am a visitor in the lab of Eric P. Xing at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).
