About Me: Michael comes to the world of education with a passion for improvement. He landed his first role -- the fat bath-time model baby on the newborn floor of the hospital -- at two days old, and has never been able to leave the theatre. He spent his early years learning about the craft of acting -- eventually earning a BFA in Theatre Performance from Viterbo University. Later, he learned that his love of lighting could be a job that not only paid the bills but satisfied his artistic itch. But, when things really took off for Michael was when he stepped into a classroom. His love of teaching, sharing, building and improving quickly came into focus and it was obvious that his calling was to students.
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE
As you journey through the Scopes and Sequences below, you'll be taking the same path my students take. They start as novices in Introduction to Theatre, progress through Acting I and Acting II (developing, refining and strengthening their application of the craft of acting), before finally becoming the leaders they have always been -- Directing Students.
The sequence is intended to guide you from having zero understanding of how acting works all the way to helping others improve their work.
There is no point in planning for things if you don't intend to do them. And then, we must reflect in order to improve.
My program is unique in that I teach all the Acting classes in one semester. So, the entire scope and sequence of events happens stacked on top of each other. It means we work fast, but we are quick to note improvements along the way.
