I am also a research Associate at the Center for Immigrant Health and Education
My research interests fall into following broad areas:
1) Childhood maltreatment and adverse childhood experiences impact on adult mental, physical, and relational health
2) Acute and chronic stress within individuals, couples and families, particularly "at risk" families
3) Couple Violence / Intimate Partner Violence / Domestic Violence
4) Couple and family relationships
5) Dyadic data methods and analysis
Lab Mission
Dr Michael Fitzgerald’s lab overarching goal is to improve mental, physical, and relational health through clinical intervention, basic and applied research, translating empirical research into practice, and personal and professional development with a specific focus on interpersonal trauma. Through the integration of clinical work and empirical research, we can best understand how to intervene and help those who have experienced traumatic, chronic, and overwhelming stress and identify under what conditions are specific points of intervention effective.
