Michael D. Brown is a principal security engineer at Trail of Bits where he leads the AI/ML security research team. He leads and works on a variety of research projects focused on applying AI/ML techniques to software security problems and assuring the security and safety of AI/ML systems. He and his team are best known for being one of the three winning teams (2nd place overall) in DARPA and ARPA-H's AI Cyber Challenge (AIxCC).
Michael is a former Ph.D. (ABD) student at Georgia Tech where he studied security-oriented software analysis and transformation techniques. Michael earned his M.S. in Computer Science at Georgia Tech and his B.S. in Computer Science at the University of Cincinnati.
Prior to his work in software security, Michael was on active duty for eight years in the U.S. Army where he served as a UH-60M pilot and Aviation Mission Survivability Officer.Â
