Tutoring is a unique opportunity for an exchange of ideas between writer and consultant. While clients may seek out the writing center for advice, the consultant can learn just as much from the writer. Ideally it should be a learning experience for both parties, each leaving with new introspection on their own writing and how the session might apply. However, there can be a tendency for consultants to overpower the client and take on a more authoritative role.
