1. My first goal in signing up for the program was simply to expose myself to teaching and learning to feel comfortable standing in front of a class.
2. Second, I wanted to learn about how modern teaching with active learning strategies is implemented. My own experience at university consisted almost exclusively of classical lectures with front-of-class teaching. The more I progressed in the program, the more important this goal became for me.
3. My final goal was to answer for myself if I enjoy teaching and which parts of it enjoy.
The answer was ‘yes, I do enjoy teaching’, but I am less excited about lecturing content that students might as well read about in a book. Instead, I was constantly on the lookout for which concepts could be extracted from the material and how to provide students access most efficiently.
