For this assignment, we were to give a critical analysis of the Microsoft "holoportation" technology demoed here:
In this demo, we see the Microsoft engineer "holoports" his colleague into the room with him, and sets his daughter up in a lab elsewhere in the building and holoports her into the room with him as well. He is only simultaneously appearing in his colleague's room, however, so only he can see them his daughter and she cannot see him. This technology appears to require an entire array of cameras surrounding the "play" area, and in order to make the illusion more convincing, they set up identical furniture in each room to improve immersion. Additionally, they had to be wearing the Hololens to see the holograms. Now I want to speak about the pros and cons of this technology given what has been discussed in class over the course of this semester:
