A visual artist working in photography, film and more, a writer working in fiction, non-fiction and wine & spirits history, moonlighting as a beverage professional in North Texas.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, his work explores themes of place, identity, memory and belonging.
His perspective is informed by a diverse professional background in hospitality, fine wine, beverage education, filmmaking, hapkido and creative writing. Across mediums, his work examines light, place and the emotional relationship between people and their environments.
After relocating to Texas in 2017, Galluccio found himself disconnected from the people and culture around him. He turned to photography as a way to better understand the landscapes, architecture, weather and communities surrounding him. He was documenting the gradual process of belonging, finding that it is not something we inherit or discover, but something we create, by first learning how to see the places we inhabit.
His first photobook, Structure & Belonging: Under the Texas Sky, follows the slow transformation of an unfamiliar landscape into home, tracing how repeated looking can turn distance into recognition and then recognition into belonging.
His broader creative practice includes film, fiction, non-fiction writing and work exploring beverage culture.
