I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami with a joint appointment with the Department of Atmospheric Sciences and the Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC). I am a native of Miami, FL, and spent my first 22 years living in the "305". After receiving my B.S. in Geosciences from Florida International University, I received my Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from the University at Albany in 2018. Thereafter, I was a NRC postdoctoral fellow at NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML), working with the Hurricane Research Division (HRD). Immediately prior to becoming a faculty member, I worked as an Associate Scientist with the University of Miami's Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS).

"I am interested in applying machine learning to improve hurricane forecasting and understanding storm dynamics. In the future, I hope to expand my research to broader aspects of hurricane science, combining data-driven methods with traditional meteorological approaches to enhance prediction and analysis."

"I think tropical cyclones as a whole are fascinating and hope to be able to use a number of tools, such as environmental data and statistical/machine learning techniques, to better understand how these extreme phenomena behave in various environments. The overarching goal is to not only improve our own knowledge about these systems but also to use said knowledge to improve forecasts on different timescales."
