Location
The Department of Mathematics is on the first floor of the Deanship of the College of Science (Building A). It includes several lecture rooms for undergraduate students, two halls for postgraduate students, a computer lab, offices for faculty members, a library, and other facilities.
Historical Review
The Department of Mathematics was established in the College of Science at Mustansiriyah University in 1963. Since then, it included academic faculty who graduated from top-ranked universities around the world.
In 2013-2014, the Department established the following scientific branches (pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and operation research) to include the most influential mathematical disciplines of pure and applied mathematics and statistics and operations research. Currently, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bassam Jabbar Jasim is the head of the department since 2021.
Scientific Staff
Currently, the Department includes several contemporary and rare disciplines to the elite group of faculty of a high ranking of scientific titles of (11) Professor, (15) Assistant Professor, (34) Lecturer, (11) Assistant Lecturer. These contemporary and rare disciplines are in line with the Department's history and the number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
One of our Department's most exciting things is working hard to find a solution to graduate employability, which relates to the correspondence between graduate skills and employer requirements. These requirements have led us to rethink how we develop and grow mathematics science graduates to meet work demands.
