Introduction

Greetings, my friend. Have you come seeking his knowledge as well? I see. No, no. I do not mind. This is but part of my duty. I am keeper of his temple after all. He has become such a popular holy figure these days, and it is no wonder. The exploits of this great figure have spread far and wide. The interesting part is not the sheer magnitude of the deeds themselves, but the differing nature of these actions from his early life, to shortly before he reached Dharma.

I once perceived my abundant fear as the biggest shackle plaguing my existence. I climbed these snowy peaks alone with no destination in order to confront this fear. The end of that journey allowed me to find him, and he granted me the duty to build this place in his name. I had resolved in my heart to conquer fear, and the resolution of that conviction brought me to Dharma. I now await any travelers willing to embark on the climb to this temple resting on the mountain's peak.

Tell me, did you happen to notice a shooting star on your climb up here? You did? The shooting star you saw appears in the sky once every night above these mountains. The legends say it is the great god of this temple himself leaping a great distance in the air, which the naked eye perceives as a bright streak of light in the night sky.

I ask you, traveler, if you have come seeking his knowledge, then would you like to hear his tale? I see, excellent. I will start with this then. He was plagued with something too you see. He had spent his entire adolescent life grooming his impulsiveness. His rambunctious nature made all of the gods and sages scorn him. He was cursed, shunned, and left to live a life as an outcast. The world had turned its back on him, yet at the most pivotal of crossroads, he decided to not turn his back on the world. He would instead grab the world by its shoulders, turn it around, and force it to gaze upon a different being. Yes, the path he sought in Dharma was redemption. This is the tale of Hanuman's Journey.
