Micah Bateman is an information theorist of textual culture. His work examines how poems, literary forms, and cultural texts are transformed into information objects within platforms, archives, and AI systems. Across projects in literary studies, media theory, and library and information science, he analyzes how texts circulate, aggregate, and acquire meaning at scale.
He is Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa School of Library and Information Science, with courtesy appointments in English and the Center for the Book. His research bridges literary theory, platform studies, and information science, focusing on the infrastructural conditions that shape contemporary cultural expression.
