On Tuesday, September 27, several MIBEA members took a tour of the Ace Sign Co. Museum and work areas, located at 2540 S First Street in Springfield, Illinois. The tour was led by Dennis, one of the former owners, who made a special trip to give the tour on a day the company was closed. Signs of all types, neon, hand-painted, were featured in the museum from the early 1940s when Ace Sign Co. was founded, including other relics of the days gone past. Ace Sign Company continues to provide signage, as represented throughout the Capital City, using cutting edge technologies such as 3D printing and digital displays. A need was expressed by Dennis for workers interested in learning the trade and carrying on the craft. For tours and interest in this job, contact Todd Bringuet at 217-522-8417 extension 154.
